Orchid Species: Dendrobium vannouhuysii

Dendrobium vannouhuysii is an orchid species identified by J.J.Sm. in 1911.
ORIGIN: Found in alpine shrubbery, in open montane forests, in open places between boulders, along mountain ridges, on bare and mossy rocks and in alpine grasslands in mossy bogs at elevations of 2100 to 3250 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature sized, cold growing lithophyte and terrestrial with slender, occasionally branching, 10 noded stems carrying several, towards the apex of the stem, oblong-ovate, somewhat distichous, wavy margined, apically warty leaves with distinctly warty leaf bases that blooms in the spring and summer on an axillary, from the nodes towards the apex, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence.
