ORIGIN: This species is found from Zaire, Angola, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, South Africa, Madagascar, Comoros and the Seychelles, as a medium sized, erect, monopodial epiphyte or occasional lithophyte on trunks and main branches of trees or on rocks below them in deciduous woods usually in arid, hot, low-lying areas or in riverine forests or in coastal bush country to elevations of sea level to 1000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: A medium sized, erect, monopodial epiphyte or occasional lithophyte on trunks and main branches of trees or on rocks below them in deciduous woods usually in arid, hot, low-lying areas or in riverine forests or in coastal bush country to elevations of sea level to 1000 meters and has a woody stem and distichous, strap-shaped, unequally and obtusely bilobed apically, folded, stiff, fleshy, dark green leaves and blooms at most any time of the year with an axillary, erect, to 8 [20 cm] long, but mostly shorter, occasionally branched, densly several flowered inflorescence with miniature clusters of barred flowers occurring at various times of the year, but mostly in the summer and fall and having a sweet diurnal fragrance. This species does well in a basket or pot with coarse bark and charcoal and kept in bright light with hot to warm temperatures.
