ORIGIN: Found in New Mexico, Arizona, and northern Mexico in high plateau.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with a swollen at the base stem carrying a single, light green, ovate-elliptic, keeled beneath, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the early summer through early fall on an erect, terminal, slender, to 16 [40 cm] long, 65 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate floral bracts carrying reddish purple flowers.
