ORIGIN: Found in Colombia and Ecuador at elevations of 2700 to 3400 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to giant sized, cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with a vine like rhizome giving rise to slender, prolific, climbing ramicauls enveloped below by a slender, tubular bract near the middle and 1 to 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, spreading, coriaceous, ovate, acute, cordate below into the sessile base leaf that blooms in the winter through spring on a short, single flowered inflorescence arising through and concealed by a spathe at the base of the leaf.
