ORIGIN: Found in Costa Rica in premontane and montane forests at elevations of 1200 to 1900 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with only at the base of newer plants, compressed, sessile, ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped at the base by 1 to 2 foliaceous sheaths and carrying a single, shortly petiolate base leaf with erect, concealed by rugose leaf sheaths, mostly leafless below canes carrying thin, articulate, lnear, keeled below, obtuse and apically rounded leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on axillary, several per leaf axil, to [9 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence that often exceed the subtending leaf in length and has a acute, as long to longer than the ovary floral bract.
