ORIGIN: Found in southwestern India at elevations of 800 to 1200 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a thick dull violet purple stem carrying spreading, thick, coriaceous, pale green with dull-violet -purple basally, unequally bilobed apically with a small mucro between the lobes, strap-shaped leaves that blooms in the fall on an axillary, 16 to 20 [40 to 50 cm] long, erect to arching, branched, 20 to 25 flowered inflorescence carrying fragrant [pineapple or sassafrass] flowers.
