Alismorkis gigantea is an orchid species identified by (Hook.f.) Kuntze in 1891. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Plocoglottis gigantea.
ORIGIN: Found in Penninsular Malaysia, Thailand, Sumatra and Borneo in hill forests at elevations of 900 to 1600 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cool to warm growing terrestrial with a stout, pubescent, stems enveloped basally by short sheaths and carrying 6 to 12, sessile, lanceolate, acute, shortly pubescent, 3 veind, plicate leaves, which also is seen only in Plocoglottis quadrifolia but not in any other Malaysian Plocoglottis, and blooms in the fall on an erect, to 32 [80 cm] long, shortly pubescent, many flowered inflorescence with triangular, acute, apically narrowed floral bracts and carrying fetid scented flowers.
