ORIGIN: A Brazilian, small to medium sized, warm to cool growing lithophyte, from the state of Minas Gerias, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro on rocks among grasses at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters.

DESCRIPTION: A Brazilian, small to medium sized, warm to cool growing lithophyte, from the state of Minas Gerias, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro on rocks among grasses at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters with cylindrical to oboclaviform, swollen at the base pseudobulbs enveloped by white, striated sheaths and carrying 1 or rarely 2, linear-oblong, erect or spreading leaves which are tinged purple that blooms in the late winter and spring in cultivation on an erect, slender, to 2'[to 60 cm] long, racemose, several [5 to 15] flowered inflorescence with longlasting, color variable flowers with a flattened basal sheath.
