Appendicula lewisii is an orchid species identified by Griff. in 1844. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Appendicula anceps.
ORIGIN: Found in Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, Lesser Sunda Islands, Philippines, Sumatra and Sulawesi on lowland, lower, moss and alluvial forests at elevations of [sea-level] 400 to 2500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature to just small sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with very close, laterally compressed, winged [ancipitous] stems carrying several, lanceolate, finely bilobed apically with obtuse lobes leaves that are .8 [2 cm] apart and all twisted basally to be held in one plane and blooms on a lateral and terminal, very short, gradually elongating to 1.6 [4 cm] long, often branched, successively several flowered inflorescence with 3 to 4 flowers open at a time.
