ORIGIN: Found in southwestern and southern Cape Province South Africa in fynbos and Restio-veld at elevations of sea level to 1200 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small sized, cold growing terrestrial withsmall subterrenean tubers giving rise to a solitary, basal, flattened to the ground, broadly cordate to orbicular, basally cordate leaf that blooms usually after fires in the late winter and spring on a terminal, erect, to 8 [to 20 cm] long, brown, pubescent, single flowered inflorescence with spathaceous, oblong-lanceolate, subacute, pubescent floral bracts.
