ORIGIN: Found in Sulawesi, New Guinea, New South Wales, Queensland, Southern Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria Australia as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid occurring in most types of forest habitat at elevations of 1200 to 1800 [Java] and in Australia at elevations of 10 to 1000 meters, at times growing in what appears to be rock-hard dirt.
DESCRIPTION: Found in Sulawesi, New Guinea, New South Wales, Queensland, Southern Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria Australia as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid occurring in most types of forest habitat at elevations of 1200 to 1800 [Java] and in Australia at elevations of 10 to 1000 meters, at times growing in what appears to be rock-hard dirt with one or more, more or less globose tubers giving rise to a [4 to 8 [10 to 20 cm] long, coarsely hairy stem basally carrying a single full sized, linear, long pilose, acute leaf and a similar much smaller one half way up that flowers in the spring on an erect, to 12 [30 cm] long, one to two flowered inflorescence with sometimed musky scented flowers and are thought to be generally pollinated by bees.
