ORIGIN: Found in Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan and Yunnan provinces of China, Hong Kong and Vietnam in forests and grasslands in full sun at elevations of 500 to 2500 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with fleshy tubers giving rise to an erect, terete, glabrous stem carrying 3 to 4, narrowly oblong to narrowly oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, amplexicaul base leaves grading to 3 to 9, bract-like leaflets above that blooms in the late spring and summer on an erect, 1 to 2.4 [2.5 to 6 cm] long, densely 9 to 20 flowered inflorescence with linear-lanceolate, ciliate floral bracts.
