ORIGIN: Found in New Guinea in large moss cushions at tree bases in montane to subalpine forets and shrubberies at elevations of 1200 to 3200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte and occasional terrestrial with glabrous, narrowly ovoid-oblong, slightly compressed, gradually narrowing into the basal part of the leaf and carrying a single, apical, patent, thin-coriaceous, glabrous, narrowly linear-spathulate to ligulate, caudate-acuminate to acuminate, midrib prominent, often crinkled margin leaf that blooms in the fall through spring on a terminal, slender, glabrous, flexuose, 6.4 to 16 [16 to 40 cm] long, well spaced, many flowered inflorescence that is shorter to about as long as the leaf with glabrous, erect, patent to spreading, ovate to lanceolate, acuminate, one nerved, bracts and carrying non-resupinate flowers.
