ORIGIN: Found in Jalisco, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla, Vera Cruz, and Chiapas states of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama in oak-pine cloud forests at elevations of 1000 to 2300 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, cool to cold, pendant growing, epiphytic species with cylindrical, curved, 3 [7.5 cm] long pseudobulbs enveloped basally by a few scarious, tubular bracts carrying a single apical, pendulous, fleshy, narrowly lanceolate, entirely folded leaf. The apical, 2 [5 cm] long, racemose inflorescence arises from within the base of the folded leaf with 1 to 3, large, longlasting, simultaneously opening, fragrant [citrus] flowers arising from a newly forming pseudobulb and may occur at various times of the year.
