Collare-stuartense astranthum is an orchid species identified by (Linden & Rchb.f.) Senghas & Bockemühl in 1997. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Oncidium astranthum.
ORIGIN: Found in Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 2000 to 2500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small sized, cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial with clustered, ovate to pear-shaped, compressed, ancipitous, rugose and longitudinally ridged with maturity pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several distichous, imbricating, leafless below and leaf-bearing above sheaths carrying 2, apical, linear to lanceolate, obtuse, strongly keeled below, channeled along the midvein above and conduplicate to form a petiole-like base leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an axillary, arching, to 7 [18 cm] long, 6 to 12 flowered, paniculate inflorescence arising on a recently matured pseudobulb with the few branches held to the apical half.
