ORIGIN: Found in Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gulf of Guinea Islands, Gabon, Zaire, Rwanda, Burundi, Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Tanzania on mossy floors of upland rainforest and plantations at elevations of 900 to 1600 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with globose, ovoid to elliptic, wooly tubers giving rise to an erect, slender, sparsely glandular hairy to glabrous stem carrying 1 to 2, basal, spreading to suberect, lanceolate, ovate to elliptical, shortly acuminate, glabrous leaves and a few lanceolate, acuminate sheaths above that blooms in the summer and fall on a terminal, erect, to 9.6 [24 cm] long, rather laxly to 40 flowered, glandular hairy inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts .
