ORIGIN: Found in the western Himalayas, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan provinces of China, India, Assam, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Hong Kong and Vietnam on open grassy slopes and along streamsides in crevasses at elevations around 400 to 1500 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, hot growing terrestrial with above ground, erect, pale greenish, subcylindic, many noded pseudobulbs carrying usually 2, usually arising after blooming, oblong-lanceolate, papery, acuminate, tapering below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the mid spring and summer on a racemose, 24 to 38 [60 to 95 cm] long, laxly more than 10 flowered inflorescence with several scattered sheaths and lanceolate, shorter than the ovary, acute to acuminate flora bracts.
