ORIGIN: Found in Central Asia, Kazakastan, Kirgystan, Tazbeckistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Pakistan in meadows, streambanks, flushed slopes and open marshy forests at elevations of 1000 to 3800 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized cold growing terrestrial with a thick, hollow stem carrying 4 to 9, unspotted or purple spotted on both sides, spreading to near erect, keeled, sometimes hooded at the apex, very broadly to very narrowly lanceolate leaves with the upper 1 to 3 are smaller and extend beyond the base of the inflorescence blooming in the later spring and early summer on an erect, dense to nearly lax, 2 to 10 [5 to 25 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with floral bracts that are shorter than the flowers.
