ORIGIN: Found in Hidalgo state of Mexico in pine/oak forests at elevations of 2790 to 2840 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with an acaulescent stem carryint 2 to 3, in a basal rosette, linear-lanceolate, acute, bluish green, withered to absent at blooming which occurs in the spring on an erect, terminal, completely glabrous, greenish-white, nearly completely enveloped by 8 to 15 papery, acuminate, whitish with brownish red veining, bracts, 5.6 to 14.8 [14 to 37 cm] long, rachis 1.6 to 3.4 [3.5 to 8.5 cm] long, 15 to 45 flowered inflorescence with translucent, colorless, with reddish brown veins, ovate, acuminate floral bracts and carrying resupinate, spirally arranged, delicately diurnally scented, mostly simultaneously opening flowers.
