Orchid Species: Dendrobium subuliferum

Dendrobium subuliferum is an orchid species identified by J.J.Sm. in 1911.
ORIGIN: Found in Papua and New Guinea in primary and secondary forests at elevations of 300 to 2000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte and ocasional terrestrial in shady, moss covered locations with close set, ovoid to narrowly fusiform pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 2, apical, distichous, condupplicate, erect to suberect, thinly leathery, usually rigid, sometimes minutely papillose, ligulate, acute to obtuse, rigid, curved leaves with minute warts on the margins that blooms on a terminal, very short inflorescence arising towards the apex of the leafy stem and carry a single to rarely 2, erect, fully open, sometimes fragrant flowers occurring in the fall through spring.
