Distichorchis metachilina is an orchid species identified by (Rchb.f.) M.A.Clem. in 2003. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Dendrobium metachilinum.
ORIGIN: Found in Thailand and Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and Sarawak in lowland forests near streams in the tops of tall trees at elevations of 200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with stout rooting, erect to pendent, clustered, simple stems that run along the ground and then become erect, somewhat tapering and deeply grooved when dry and carry 11 to 13, linear to narrowly oblong, stiffly spreading, unequally obtusely to acutely bilobed, glabrous leaves that are found on the apical portion of the stem, all blooming in the late spring on, often many more than one, very short to 1/2 [1.25 cm] long, , 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence carrying usually non resupinate flowers with ovate, acute, concave floral bracts.
