ORIGIN: Found in Costa Rica at elevations around 900 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large to giant sized, warm growing epiphyte or lithophyte with simple, cane-like, laterally compressed, erect stems carrying 9 to 11, all along the stem, spreading, elliptic, shortly acuminate, prominently veined on upper surface, entire marginally, articulate below into the base leaves that blooms in the winter through spring on a terminal, paniculate, suberect, occurring only once, 16 to 18 [40 to 45 cm] long, 150 to 300 flowered inflorescence without bracts, but on the lower branches, very prominent, narrowly triangular, conduplicate, long-acuminate, amplexicaul bracts and variable in size, from much shorter to longer than the ovary, linear-triangular, long-acuminate floral bracts and carrying simultaneously opening, resupinate flowers.
