ORIGIN: Found in the Leewards, the Windwards and Guyana at elevations of 100 to 900 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium to giant sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial or rarely an epiphyte with a thin, simple, cane-like stem carrying to 11, evenly distributed along the upper half of the stem, subcoriaceous, alternate, oblong-lanceolate, rounded apically, minutely bilobed, margin entire leaves that blooms in the winter, spring and summer on a terminal, racemose, erect, terete, thin, straight, 8 [20 cm] long, to 25 flowered inflorescence enveloped completely by imbricating, tubular bracts and shorter than the ovary, triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying successively opening, resupinate, non-fragrant flowers.
