ORIGIN: Found in Spain, Andorra, France, Ireland, England, Germany and Denmark on dry to moist calcareous, alkaline substrates in dunes, scrub, beech, oak and conifer forests at elevations up to 200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cold growing terrestrial with sturdy slightly puberulous apically stems carrying, 3 to 7, cauline, spreading-erect, irregular serrate marginally leaves, median, nearly quadrangular, oval, mucronate, undulate marginally leaves and the upper, bract like leaves that blooms in the late spring and summer on a terminal, erect, to 6 [15 cm] long, laxly many [5 to 35] flowered inflorescence.
