ORIGIN: Found in Ghana, Burundi, Rwanda, Zaire, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Cape, Natal, Orange Free State and Transvaal South Africa and Madagascar in seasonally burnt grasslands at elevations of 1500 to 2200 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with potato-like underground pseudobulbs in a chain, holding after the flowering stem, 3 to 5, fan-shaped, conduplicate, linear-lanceolate, smooth leaves that blooms in the winter through spring on an erect, 3.2 to 11.2 [8 to 28 cm] long, laxly 5 to 25 flowered inflorescence arising before the leaves with 3 to 4, acute to acuminate, sheathing bracts and lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
