ORIGIN: Found in Zaire, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Zambia at elevations of 1350 to 1450 meters in open grasslands among flat rocks and in high density rainfalll woodlands.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with subterranean irregularily ellipsoid-conical tubers giving rise to 1 to 3, erect, linear, acuminate, plicate, grass-like leaves that are absent or just begining to arrive at blooming in the later spring on an erect, rather laxly 7 to 20 flowered inflorescence which is almost covered by 2 to 3 bracts and carries linear-lanceolate acuminate, sometimes yellow to orange floral bracts and carrying spreading to nutant flowers that do not open well.
