ORIGIN: Found in Rwanda, Burundi, Central African Republic, Zaire, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Angola, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namimbia, Transvaal South Africa, Mozanbique, The Comoros and Madagascar in grasslands, marshes and deciduous woodlands at elevations of sea-level to 2350 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Large sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with an underground cylindrical rhizome giving rise after flowering, 3 to 6, plicate, glabrous, linear, acute leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an erect, 2' to 3'4 [60 to 100 cm] long, loosely 7 to 15 flowered inflorescence with 3 to 4 tightly adpressed sheaths and linear, lanceolate, acute, equal to to slightly shorter than the pedicel floral bracts and carrying flowers with a soft fragrance.
