DESCRIPTION: This small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial orchid with a long creeping rhizome carrying pubescent, purplish stems with sheathing leaves and 4 to 8 oblong to oblong-lanceolate, subacute to acuminate leaves and it blooms in the late spring and summer on a secund, laxly few to many [5 to 20] flowered inflorescence that has lanceolate bracts that are as long as or a bit shorter than the nodding flowers. Tjis species is often found in conjunction with ants and may benefit from their presence.
