ORIGIN: Found in Guerrero, Veracruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas states of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in lowland and montane forests at elevations around 400 to 1000 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cold to warm growing, epiphytic species with a terete stem becoming swollen above the middle, fusiform, slightly compressed, lightly longitudinally rugose pseudobulbs partially enveloped basally on the terete part, tubular, scarious, evanescent sheaths and carrying 2, apical, coriaceous, oblong-elliptic to linear-lanceolate, acute, conduplicate below into the base leaves that blooms in the late winter and spring on a terminal, fasciculate, racemose, pendulous few to several flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb.
