Humboltia misera is an orchid species identified by (Lindl.) Kuntze in 1891. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Platystele misera.
ORIGIN: Found in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador at elevations of 1800 to 2900 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with a stout, erect ramicaul enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths with a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic-obovate, obtuse to rounded leaf that is cuneate towards the petiole and blooms on a filamentous, erect, 5 to 6 [12 to 14 cm] long including the 2.4 to 3.2 [6 to 8 cm] long peduncle,, several flowered inflorescence that is at least twice and not much more than twice the length of the leaves, flowers open successively and can occur at any time of the year.
