DESCRIPTION: This cute, medium sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial is from lowlands, hillforest, rain forests and lower montane forests from 200 to 1700 meters in elevation and is found from Sabah, China [Hainan], penisular Malaysia, Thailand, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Timor, the Philippines and New Guinea. It has clustered, fleshy, conical, somewhat bilaterally compressed, pale green aging to pale yellow pseudobulbs with 1 to 2, large red brown basal sheaths and carries a single, apical, oblanceolate, acute to subacute, fleshy leaf that is channeled towards the base and blooms in the spring and summer on an erect to arching, to 12 [30 cm] long, terete, many flowered, in a more or less dense, cylindrical raceme with several lanceolate, sterile bracts and spreading, lanceolate, acuminate, flesh-colored floral bracts carrying variable flowers in size and color.
