ORIGIN: Found in Kazakastan, Kirgystan, Far Eastern Russia, Japan, Korea, Chongqing, Gansu, Guizhou, northwestern Hebei, Heilongjiang, Nei Mongol, Qinghai, north Shanxii and, north Sichuan provinces of China in humid dense forests at elevations of 1400 to 2600 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a cylindric, slender stem with 1 to 2, membraneous sheaths towards the base and carrying 2, opposite, towards the middle of the stem, subsessile, cordate, broadly ovate to broadly ovate-triangular, slightly crisped margins, acute to obtuse apically, broadly cuneate or subcordate below into the base leaves that blooms in the fall on a pubescent, .8 to 2.8 [2 to 7 cm] long, laxly 4 to 7 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, glabrous, acute apically floral bracts.
