ORIGIN: Found in Bangladesh, India, western Himalayas, Chinease Himalayas, Nepal, Myanmar and Thailand at elevations of 600 to 1900 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with a swollen subterranean stem carrying adpressed to the ground, 2 to 3, horizontal, unequal in size, upper side dark brownish green purplish beneath, 3 main nerved, broad, ovate, obtuse, cordate, amplexicaul basally, fleshy leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, terminal, reddish purple, sharply quadrangular, rachis shorter than the peduncle, to 4 [10 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence with persistent, subulate, reflexed, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying very small, sessile flowers.
