DESCRIPTION: Found in the eastern Cordillera of Colombia as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with blackish, slender, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute to obtuse leaf that is cuneate below into the petiole. ELEVATION: 2, 200 - 2, 600 meters. FLOWER SEASON: It seems to be autumn and occurs on a slender, erect, 2 [5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul, has a bract above the base and a tubular floral bract, all longer than the 1 1/2 [4 cm] long leaf. CULTURE: Found growing epiphytically as a miniature sized orchid. Cold or the cool side of intermediate would best suit, I found it didn't thrive in warm weather, spring and autumn seeming to be best suited to growth and vigour. With its small stature and fine roots M. arminii needs a humid environment and a fine moisture retentive potting medium.
FLOWER SIZE: To 4 inches [to 10 cm]
