Notylia huegelii is an orchid species identified by Fenzl in 1850. Culture information and photos for this orchid are commonly detailed under the currently accepted name of Notylia orbicularis.
ORIGIN: Found in Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador at elevations of 180 to 1400 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Mini-miniature sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with an oval to elliptic, laterally compressed, rather ancipitous edged, longitudinally rugose to grooved pseudobulb partially enveloped below by several, triangular, conduplicate sheaths with the uppermost being leaf-bearing and and carrying a single, apical, erect, thick, rigid, leathery, conspicuously wrinkled and channeled above along the midvein, prominently keeled below, apically rounded, narrowing below into the petiolate-like base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect to arching, to 12 [30 cm] long, closely spaced, cylindrical, many flowered, racemose inflorescence,.
