ORIGIN: Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in wet montane forests at elevations of 1700 to 3700 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial orchid on steep embankments with a short rhizome carrying ovoid, slightly compressed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several, distichous, imbricating sheaths with the upper few being foliaceous and carrying 1 to 2 apical, erect, coriaceous, linear-elliptical, leaves that are basally conduplicate and blooms on an erect, axillary, 12 to 16 [30 to 40 cm] long, paniculate, several flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb occurring at most any time of the year.
