ORIGIN: A medium sized, cold to warm growing terrestrial or epiphytic orchid from the wet, cool forests of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador where it is found on clay banks covered with leaf liter or on shrubs and trees in wet montane forests at altitudes of 800 to 3000 meters.

DESCRIPTION: A medium sized, cold to warm growing terrestrial or epiphytic orchid from the wet, cool forests of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador where it is found on clay banks covered with leaf liter or on shrubs and trees in wet montane forests at altitudes of 800 to 3000 meters that has an oblong-ovate pseudobulb concealed by foliaceous bracts that carries 2 apical, subcoriaceous, elliptic-ovate leaves that are rounded at the end, which blooms in the spring through fall on a elongate, 1 1/2' [45 cm] long, stout, erect, racemose, densely several flowered inflorescence that is shorter or just as long as the leaves, arising on a maturing pseudobulb.
