ORIGIN: Found in the western Himalayas, Assam, India, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Borneo, Java, the Moluccas, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra and New Guinea along streams in hill forests and at elevations around 100 to 2830 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium to large sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with ellipsoid to cylindric, pubescent tubers giving rise to an erect, basally sheathed stem carrying 3 to 4, clustered, ovate to ovate-elliptic, acute, basally narrowing leaves that blooms in the later spring and early summer on a terminal, densely to subdensely many flowered, 10 [to 25 cm] long, glabrous inflorescence with lanceolate floral bracts and carrying sweetly scented flowers.
