ORIGIN: Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Surinam, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina at elevations of 210 to 700 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial with an erect, stout, leafy stem glabrous below and densely pubescent above the leaves carrying elliptic-lanceolate to oval-lanceolate, acute to acuminate, gradually tapering below into the short, broad petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect, elongate, 10 [25cm] long, cylindric, many flowered inflorescence carrying successively opening flowers.
