ORIGIN: Found in the hot lowland areas of Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela and Trinidad occurring in dry deciduous to semideciduous forests at elevations of sea-level to 1000 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with large, oval, ridged, compressed, dark green mottled purple-brown pseudobulbs subtended by caducous bracts with two apical, elliptic leaves that are apically rounded or obtuse that blooms in the fall through the spring with a raceme or panicle that has a basal, erect or arching, to 4' [120 cm] long, many to few flowered inflorescence arising as the new growth matures.
