ORIGIN: Found in Australia and Papua and New Guinea as a medium to large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial species at elevations of 100 to 650 meters in sunny disturbed areas such as road cuts or sloping rocky grasslands.

DESCRIPTION: Found in Australia and Papua and New Guinea as a medium to large sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial species at elevations of 100 to 650 meters in sunny disturbed areas such as road cuts or sloping rocky grasslands with a short rhizome giving rise to a minute pseudobulb carrying 2 to 4, erect-patent, narrowly linear, long acuminate, glabrous, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a 3' 8 [110 cm] long, basal, erect, racemose inflorescence which extends during blooming and has successive [6 to 8 open at a time] opening flowers. It is self pollinating and nearly all flowers set a capsule.
