ORIGIN: Found in Panama, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru on the western slopes of the Andes in montane areas with a distinct dry season at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte or occasional terrestrial on steep shaded roadbanks with ribbed, globose pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, plicate, gradually narrows below into the elongate, channeled petiolate base leaf that blooms on a basal, pendant to lateral, racemose, 12 [30 cm] long, few to several [4 to 7] flowered inflorescence with large, chartaceous bracts and arising on a mature pseudobulb. Remember to give this one a dry winter rest if you want it to bloom!!.
