ORIGIN: Found in Loja Ecuador at elevations of 1000 to 2350 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial on hillsides with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by a tubular sheath below the middle and 1 to 2 others at the base and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptical-obovate, obtuse to rounded at the apex, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer and early fall on an erect, to 20 [to 50 cm] long, loose, successively several flowered inflorescence carrying several simultaneously open flowers at a time.
