ORIGIN: Found in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 2800 to 3400 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Small to giant sized, proliferating, cold growing terrestrial with an erect, stout to slender, prolific ramicaul enveloped by 2 to 5, ciliate lepanthiform sheaths with some stout supporting ramicauls with to 15 lepanthiform sheaths with a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, oblong-elliptical, obtuse to rounded, contracted below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter, spring, later summer on a loose, .6 to 1 [1.5 to 2.5 cm] long including the .4 [1 cm] long peduncle, simultaneously few flowered inflorescence arising from near the apex of the ramicual.
