ORIGIN: Found in Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, the Windward Islands, Surinam, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in wet montane forests at altitudes of 1000 to 3000 meters.

DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, cool to cold growing orchid with a tapered-cylindric, elongate pseudobulb subtended by 2 to 3 scarious bracts and has a single, apical, oblong-lanceolate, conduplicate and channeled to the petiolate base, plicate, acute, coriaceous leaf that blooms in the summer, fall and early winter on an erect, 2.4 [6 cm] long, few flowered racemose inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb, with large ovate bracts and boat-shaped, acute floral bracts all holding the campanulate flowers at mid-leaf height.
