Orchid Species: Paphiopedilum areeanum

Paphiopedilum areeanum is an orchid species identified by O.Gruss in 2001.
ORIGIN: Found in southeastern Yunnan and north Myanmar without locality information.
DESCRIPTION: Small to medium sized terrestrial with a stem-like rhizome giving rise to several tufts of leaves at the apex and carrying narrowly oblong, pale green and marked with purple above and uniformly dark green below, usually slightly bilobulate apically leaves that blooms in the fall on a suberect, greenish brown, pubescent, 6 to 10 [15 to 25 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with greenish, ovate, conduplicate, subglabrous floral bracts.
FLOWER SIZE: 3.2 to 3.6 inches [8 to 9 cm]
