Orchid Species: Phragmipedium sargentianum

Phragmipedium sargentianum is an orchid species identified by (Rolfe) Rolfe in 1896.
ORIGIN: Found in the coastal mountains of Brazil at elevations of 650 to 900 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial in the shade of trees, in humus with constant seepage, with a very short stem carrying 7, bright green, lanceolate or oblong lanceolate, acute to acuminate leaves that blooms on a 2 to 4' [60 to 120 cm] long, erect, several to many, sequentially opening flowered, reddish purple, pubescent inflorescence occurring in the late winter and spring. Cited as a synonym of P longifolium but I have left them separate pending more information.
